Model details

Railway architecture · N 1:160 and H0 1:87 · Development package v0.5

A locomotive depot that can grow with your layout.

This Probstzella-inspired roundhouse is built around a configurable radial plan rather than one fixed footprint. The editable source allows the number of stalls, radius and depth to change. The principal study has ten stalls, while a smaller three-stall roof variant demonstrates a more compact arrangement.

Development preview — not available for purchase. This is a digital architecture and fit-interface study, not a complete, physically tested building kit.

The building and its working spaces

The model includes interpreted internal framing, inspection pits, windows, roof ventilators and static door alternatives. An optional service annex provides workshop, staff and WC spaces. Roof locating features and cable passages are included in the coordinated scale studies.

Board joints, masonry plinths and roof-course relief are modelled in the surfaces. Roof treatments can be changed between small rectangular courses, broad sheet seams and a plain finish. These are reversible modelling interpretations, not confirmed descriptions of the shed’s roofing or cladding in 1930.

What the current development package contains

v0.5 packages the existing v0.4 geometry with an illustrated English assembly guide, numbered model diagrams, a parts inventory and provenance notes. Existing v0.4 labels in CAD views identify that retained geometry; they are not a different product.

  • Editable Python architecture in real-world metres.
  • Coordinated N and H0 digital assemblies, plus a full-size architectural mesh export.
  • Fit and surface-relief STL coupons for future print trials.
  • Assembly documentation and recorded digital checks.

Designed alongside a separate turntable

The building and the Configurable Railway Turntable share a rail-head datum and a coordinated track arrangement. The 11.5-degree stall spacing is a deliberate layout adaptation for the companion 16.5-metre bridge, not a newly established historical measurement. The turntable is a separate model, not part of the roundhouse package.

What still needs testing

Complete wall and floor splitting, scale-specific reinforcement, minimum-feature decisions and slicer review remain outstanding. No full physical print or assembly test is recorded for this package. Historical dimensions and concealed construction also retain documented uncertainties.

Digital model previews and setting artwork are not photographs of a finished print. Landscape, track and companion models shown for context do not imply an included scenic kit.

Before it reaches your workbench

A few useful things to know.

Is this a physical model?

No. This catalogue is for digital model files, not a printed kit. When a release is available, its listing will describe the files and documentation included in the download.

Which scale and printer should I use?

Check the model details and release notes for the available scales and tested print settings. Use a scale-specific version where supplied: small features and assembly clearances do not always work when a model is simply enlarged or reduced.

Does the picture show a finished print?

Model previews may be digital renders. Refer to the image description and release notes to distinguish a digital model from a physical print test. Development previews are not a promise that every part has been printed.

What should I keep after downloading?

Keep a backup of the original release package together with its version number, licence and assembly notes. Read the instructions before arranging the parts in your slicer.
